WHY BEYOND
The purpose of Equip and Engage is to equip and engage disciples to go BEYOND in ministry to further the gospel of Jesus Christ. We see the need for local and overseas involvement, leadership training, resource development, and next-generation mentorship in the global Apostolic church; however, our purpose is not simply to fulfill these needs, it’s to assist in meeting these needs from a deeper biblical perspective and understanding so that church leaders can fulfill the Great Commission with excellence, integrity, and spiritual maturity.
WHAT WE’re DOing
In May 2024, Equip and Engage launched a prototype event at The Pentecostals of Sydney in Sydney, Australia, to meet the needs of church leaders in the Pacific Region. The goal of BEYOND Sydney was to equip and engage pastors, administrators, musicians, creatives, production engineers, and lay ministers in the nations of the Pacific Region with material, resources, tools, and knowledge to further the gospel in their local communities and churches.
While in Sydney, we held a two-day training seminar with over twenty classes and produced a live recording to help fund additional global Apostolic efforts in various other regions in the future. The training seminar included a variety of classes — including Operating in Apostolic Authority, Church Creativity, Timing for Musicians, Instrumental & Vocal Techniques, Worship Leading, and Local Church Sound Production — and the live recording featured Tyler Sullivan on ten brand new songs written during a songwriting collaboration specifically for the Beyond initiative.
FUTURE PLANS (INCLUDING + NOT LIMITED TO…)

…including chord charts, vocal helps, and stems for local churches and organizations to include these songs in their worship music repertoire!

a biblical perspective
of going beyond
A biblical perspective and understanding of what it means to GO BEYOND supports a holistic approach to community involvement, leadership training, resource development and stewardship, mentorship, and mental health care. This approach recognizes the inherent value of each individual, the importance of community, and the responsibility to use one's gifts and resources for the benefit of others, all while maintaining personal well-being.
Community Involvement (Local and Overseas):
The Bible encourages believers to be actively involved in their communities and to serve others. This applies both locally and globally.
Local: "Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others." (Philippians 2:4)
Overseas: The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 calls Christians to "go and make disciples of all nations."
Leadership Training
Scripture emphasizes the importance of developing leaders within the faith community.
"And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also." (II Timothy 2:2)
The apostle Paul's mentorship of Timothy and Titus serves as a model for leadership development.
Resource Development
The Bible teaches wise stewardship of resources and their use for the benefit of others.
The parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30) illustrates the importance of developing and using resources effectively.
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." (I Peter 4:10)
Next-Generation Mentorship
Scripture emphasizes the importance of passing on faith and wisdom to younger generations.
"Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation." (Joel 1:3)
The relationship between Elijah and Elisha provides a biblical model of mentorship (I Kings 19:19-21, II Kings 2:1-15).
The Bible recognizes the reality of mental and emotional struggles in Proverbs 12:25 and I Peter 5:7, and offers comfort, hope, and practical wisdom for dealing with the issues of life. One’s ability to GO BEYOND and truly fulfill the great commission are interconnected in that mental health impacts one's ability to engage in community, lead effectively, develop resources, and mentor others. Conversely, involvement in these areas can positively impact mental health by providing purpose, support, and meaningful relationships.
